Today I’m posting on How to To make popcorn with milk and sugar. I use powdered milk and granulated sugar.

It’s very easy.  This holiday and lock-down season, my kids have enjoyed nutritious homemade popcorn daily The reason they can’t get enough of my stove and pot popcorn is maybe the addition of powdered milk and sugar to my Nigerian popcorn.

I wasn’t really a big fan of popcorn until I started to make popcorn with caramelized sugar and that very creamy taste of milk.

HOW TO ADD MILK AND SUGAR TO POPCORN:

Below is how to make popcorn with milk and sugar:

  • Place a pot on the stove or gas cooker.
  • Pour in your popcorn just enough to cover the heavy base cooking pot.  Not much. The smaller the quantity of corn in the pot, the batter.
  • Drop in a teaspoon of vegetable oil.
  • Mix and turn on the heat. Now place the lid on the pot and just stand or sit by. Do not go far away please.
  • Once in starts popping you will hear the sound and that means it’s time to take off the lid on the pot and stir.
  • You may want to cover halfway because the popping corn will start jumping out of the hot pot unto the stove, kitchen slabs and everywhere on the floor.  With your long spoon continue to stir or scoop out the popped grains to allow others enough space to pop too and shine.
  • Once all the corn is popped, turn off the heat and pour out any stubborn grains that refused to pop if any. Return all the popcorn onto the pot and immediately pour in the sugar and start stirring to prevent the sugar caramelizing and burning.  Stir very fast as the pot gradually cools and browns some of the  popcorn.
  • Let it cool a bit before pouring in some powdered milk.
  • Stir well and empty into a large bowl before the movie starts to roll.
  • Enjoy with family and friends.

Popcorn is great for weight loss.  The fact that sometimes I use slim milk makes it even better.
