I am guilty! who else is?
I don’t think I would want my daughters to date younger men. There is just that maybe Nigerian thing in me making me feel like older men are more experienced and will treat a woman with more respect than the younger generation. This tweet touched a nerve in me because honestly there are some young men that act more mature that older men.
The reasons I always wished that my girls date and marry older men are many:
- Older men have experienced life. They know how it feels when the heart breaks.
- Older men are already settled like have worked and have financial stability so the woman doesn’t get into marriage and start looking older because of struggle. Nothing wrong if a man is not financially independent though but he has to have potentials oh.
- Humility is found more with the older generation that our indomie noodle generation. These young people are very dramatic and sometimes arrogant. It’s hard to find a humble, respectable young man these days, especially if they have made money early in life. Imagine I was an an ATM, left to ease myself and by the time I came back, a small boy of maybe late teen age or early twenties was already standing there. I wanted to like tell him to excuse me that I went to ease myself… His choice of words shocked me so much I had to just stand behind him to avoid drama.This is a boy my kids’ age. He was like.. “Madam please respect yourself before they come and say that am being disrespectful. I don’t want any trouble just respect yourself now and leave this place” I looked at him and wondered if he wouldn’t talk to his mother like that.
- Older me are very loving though they may not be as romantic as these ones who watch porn sites like it’s food for the belly.
- Older men are easy to please, no wahala at all. They have seen life and known that all is vanity.
For me, younger generation starts from early twenties down…..
