Hello Madam Eya, kindly help me share this anonymously on your blog. I am a Nigerian living in India. My former colleague over there in Nigeria lost his wife to cancer a few acks and this happened mostly because as a civil servant with a meager salary, he could not afford to pay for cancer treatment abroad. They tried their best to manage her situation in Nigerian while waiting painfully for the day she will pass on. That day came and just before Christmas, she passed. This left me worried and thinking because I have family back there in Nigeria.
I have never heard of anything like Cancer insurance in Nigeria but over here, even countries like India have this insurance and women are the ones benefiting the most from it from the way I see things.
ANY CANCER INSURANCE POLICY?
A country like Nigeria that boasts as the giant of Africa, do we have any Cancer Insurance in Nigeria? The rate at which cancer is taking lives the world over and in the past our parents thought that this is a disease of the rich and the white man but now everyone can see that hospitals all over the countries have cancer patients ranging from breast cancer, cancer of the blood, lung cancer, kidney cancer, cancer of the bone marrow, Prostate Cancer and so on. Since there are no advanced facilities to handle the proper treatment of cancer or so to speak, are there any insurance companies with cancer insurance? Is there any cancer insurance Policy in the country? What is the Nigerian Government doing about cancer insurance ?
The first Insurance company in Nigeria started about 1918. This is so longer ago and if up till now there is no provision for Cancer Insurance then it’s a big shame on the part of those in power in that oil and Gas Economy.
I had to go searching Online and discovered that there are about 40 Insurance companies. How about Cancer Insurance? I Googled but came up with nothing so far. Insurance companies like

All the rest. Do these Insurance companies have anything covering Cancer Insurance? If India and other countries considered to be poor can cater for cancer for their citizens through Insurance Cancer. why can’t Nigeria do it?
Cancer treatment is very expensive and every year the cost of treatment goes up. If all these types of Insurance exist, why can’t cancer insurance be included considering the rate at which Nigerians are dying of cancer recently? The Healthcare ;Professional Insurance, does it cover Cancer treatment?

- (b) Employers Liability Insurance.
- (c) Motor 3rd Party Liability Insurance.
- (d) Employers Liability Insurance (Group Life)
- (e) Occupiers Liability Insurance.
- (f) Healthcare Professional Indemnity Insurance. All these, how are they better than cancer Insurance if I may ask?
I may be wrong, that’s why I need your help to be enlightened. Can someone please help name an Insurance company that covers Cancer Insurance ? I’ll e checking to see. Thank you.
