NUTMEG CAKE (NIGERIAN) BAKED IN A PRESSURE COOKER

Image
The few ingredients used here are proof that this is a very easy delicious cake to bake. I can eat this particular cake because it's not too sweet. I need to remind us that to bake in a pressure cooker, you need to remove the gasket and whistler from the pot. After discovering how much gas is saved when small cakes are baked in a pressure pot, I don't think I can go back to baking my tiny cakes in the oven. My oven consumes so much gas in those 45 minutes of baking a small cake. I'll leave that for when we bake with more than one baking pan. With a pressure pot, I make use of just one burner. That is like using just the quantity of gas needed to

HOW TO BAKE CAKE IN A PRESSURE COOKER

Image
To bake with a pressure cooker, you need to take off the gasket and whistle from the pressure pot. You don't want your cooker to burst from pressure.  You also need something to insulate like I did here. The lid will still click lock without the gasket and whistle. I baked this cake to save gas. I have shared recipes of cakes baked on stove top before, this is not the first time. The size of cake is so small that I felt using an oven will just consume too much gas for something this tiny. On the burner it's like cooking any other meal. This cake turned out really good. I don't know if it's the pressure cooker or the small burner I used that gave such a perfect cake, we all love it.

All I needed to produce this was a few ingredients, some salt at the bottom to keep the pressure cooker insulated, some clean stones on the salt to enable heat go round the baking pan evenly without burning my cake. That's all. It has already been cut in pieces and kept in the fridge. Sc…

NIGERIAN STYLE CAKE BREAD

Image
This cake bread happened without plan. I wanted to bake some bread rolls for my kids on holiday because they asked that they'll prefer mine to the ones we bought earlier and while those were beginning to get bad with no one interested in finishing them, I said "ok, let me bake some rolls for you girls" but after mixing, the dough looks really soft like batter. One quick look suggested that the soft dough might not be able to stand on a baking tray without

Nigerian cake is actually pound cake. The eggs I used this time weren't as large as those used for the

Pound Cake Recipe For The Learner

How to bake Nigerian cake:This no stress pound cake recipe is especially for the learner who thinks that baking is difficult. This recipe doesn't ask that you mix anything separately before adding. All you have to do is measure and pour in a large bowl. Preparation takes less than 10  minutes and your cake is put in the oven. All you need is a stand mixer because the weight is going to be much for manual mixing.
INGREDIENTS: 4 cups all purpose flour (500 grams) 2 cups sugar (500 grams) 2 cups butter ( I used 2 sachets baking margarine) (500 grams) 6 large eggs 2 teaspoons vanilla essence

How to bake cake using sand in a cooking pot; No Oven

Image
I have posted a cake baked without an oven earlier on the blog. However, that cake wasn't baked using sand. The baking pan was paced directly on the pot and I don't think I'll bake like that again. Using sand and foil actually maintains the pot and is neat too. This I experimented with a small sized cake and because it turned out so great, I'll bake much bigger cakes using these method in the future becaause my oven actually consumes more gas than baking in a pot on the burners. Even when one has an oven, baking in a pot with sand really saves gas because less is consumed.
