Video: Tiwa Savage Marriage Crisis - Lessons

Tiwa Savage Giving an exclusive interview On Pulse TV

There have always been Social media rumors that Tiwa Savage's marriage to Tunji Balogun was suffering but, without evidence, I never believed until I watched the video yesterday and when I got to the point where she broke down, I also broke down. It was really touchy and I've
always known this one thing; That TRANSPARENCY is very important in relationships whether marriage or other relationships with people. It's very important for a spouse to be an open book, to be honest, because, HONESTY is the best policy. When couples begin to hide things from each other, there is problem. Collecting payment for shows and making his wife think that no money was paid? That was a mistake. If as the manager he wasn't ok with the 60:40 arrangement, he should have had a discussion and maybe tried to convince his wife to increase his managerial fee.

Not many marriages can survive the stress of mixing business and marriage. It's hard. Even having a joint account alone is enough to end some marriages not to talk of having just one source of income being split by husband and wife. It's not easy, that's why when I look at celebrities like Tunde and Wunmi Obe, I ask myself "How do they do it? For all these years of being in showbiz together, doing business together without scandal . The Lord is their strength.

Tiwa saw the signs at the beginning of their relationship but ignored until... in marriage they became too obvious to ignore. Never ignore these things. You see, they say love is blind but, marriage is an eye opener. In marriage, you won't be able to ignore these things anymore and always always remember that people hardly change. This saying by one of my favourite authors has always been in my head...
"The first time people show you who they are, BELIEVE THEM"
Maya Angelou.

A lot of people go into marriage with the intention of using the other person to their advantage and that is wrong. Marriage is not a kind of business venture or something.

Marriage is hard work and no two marriages are the same. In reality, some marriages are more peaceful, more loving and more grounded that others. While some marriages do not need much work to succeed, others need so much of dry fasting, stooping to conquer and tons of patience. Study your own marriage and either enjoy it or carry your cross and continue to hope for the best.

What man would expect a wife like Tiwa Savage to daily cook his meals? Yes, she should make his meals from time to time but not daily abeg. Where is the time? If one can afford it, I see nothing wrong with hiring a chef. If I had a schedule like hers, I'd definitely hire a chef for my family. A lot of people are successfully doing it and I pray that more African husbands will begin to understand that cooking for your husband everyday is not the most important aspect of marriage. I know one or two African men who serve their wives breakfast in bed sometimes and, you don't know how special that little gesture can make a woman feel. Always, expecting the woman to do everything all the time with her hands while still managing a career can be so stressful.

There is just something about our husbands expecting us in a way to just be like our mothers, in this 21st century? Yes, I remember how difficult it was for my own "Oyibo" husband to just accept that I use a washing machine for our children's clothes. It took me so long I had to bring it home unannounced and he couldn't just do anything about it.Then I had 3 kids, was working outside home and going through so much stress. Saturdays that are meant for rest and family, I spent washing baskets of dirty laundry, cooking meals, cleaning and hardly having time to shower properly. . Getting house helps in Abuja wasn't easy and every chore was on me.

I was shocked when my husband initially resisted me getting a washing machine, stressing that as a mom, it's my responsibility to wash my kids clothes like an African mother. I tried my possible best until one day he came home to a waiting washing machine and honestly, that machine made me a better wife because it reduced my stress and anger levels. Although later he realized that it made me less stressed up and happier, he then got a bigger one for us. My point is that initially, why would he insist that as a proper African mom, I ought to enjoy hand washing my children's cloth even when we couldn't find a help (The dry cleaner did only his and some of mine, but still the kids laundry was so much by weekend). What can I say? our Naija husbands should please realize that change is what we are in oh, after all they voted for "change" and we accepted.. If a wife is extremely busy and can afford a good cook for the family, please let her!

Yes. I broke down with Tiwa Savage but come to think of it ... IF everything she said in that video is the truth, why would he then be suicidal?

You haven't seen the video? watch below...

  1. i SHARE THE SAME THOUGHT WITH U, OUR MEN SHOULD WAKE UP TO THE CLARION CALL, WOMEN OF 21ST CENTURY NEED HELP AT HOME, IF THE MEN DOSENT WANT US TO HIRE ONE THEY SHOULD BE READY TO ASSIST. I pitied Tiwa. It is clear that TEEBILL married her cos of wealth and cos he dosent want any other man to reap where he sowed.

  2. I believe Tiwa. You see, the moment I read all Tbillz was saying I knew something was off. He blamed everyone except himself for his misfortune. Someone that cant even take responsibility for his life, how can he be responsible for others.

He wants to kill himself cause his cash cow Don vex say she no be mumu again. If he was so good, what happened to developing other talents and his record label?

Tiwa is his wife and not his slave. If a woman takes up the role of the husband paying all the bills and also the husband's personal bills then what is left? After all that he still has the audacity to carry woman with his wife's money... It is pathetic!

And what if Tiwa once slept with Jazzy and Sid? Was she married to Tbillz then? Is she still sleeping with them? Why is he bringing it up?? He is just an abuser and a user. He wants to continue to blackmail her with her past and spoil her image. I don't even care who she slept with or what she did to make money to take care of you and your kids TJ.it all happened because of your uselessness. You would deal and take drugs, live for the camera all at the expense of your wife.

Tiwa pleas if possible, take care of your kid well and face your work. This man no be real man. He is what we call "fuckboy". Sorry for my language. I had to just use that.

    I am so angry

Tiwa should not stay and make any marriage work Lizzy because there was no marriage in the first place, all I see in their relationship was leeching. But we women sha, we like to make it look like our husbands are taking care of us even when we are the ones in charge. The men these days don't mind a woman emptying her pocket to care for him and kids but they wont raise a finger to help with house hold chores.

I remember pestering my hubby for almost two years to buy us an inverter; he said it is not necessary. I was the one who had to wake up by 5am to prepare kids for school, prepare breakfast etc with rechargeable torchlights and lamps. So I went to buy one myself finally and now he is the one who cant sleep at night without the inverter. The day they came to install it, he was walking up and down giving orders as to how and where it should be installed. My sister found it so disgusting and was like is this what we see in marriage? He was completely acting like he was the one who bought the inverter and was paying for the installation as well. Now, the inverter has even helped him cut down on fuel expenses for the generator, so much so that a few days after we started using it, he smiled at me and said "honey, it's good to have inverter oh". I felt like folding his mouth back in, lol.

Or is it our house at home that we build with 50-50 contribution yet he passes it off to people especially his relatives and friends that he is the one building the house. Even when the mechanic comes to pick up my car for servicing, I have to give him the impression that it is hubby that is paying for the servicing (maybe so he gets to service it properly or so as to make it look like hubby is taking care of me).

My dear I think women are always at the receiving end in marriage abeg. You work, you split bills, you do chores, pay for help when you cant do chores, etc. Sometimes I find myself wondering what use it is to be married then since one still ends up doing most of those things you were dong for yourself before you got married, if not even more. Kudos to the men that take up bills at home and share in house work because I do know that there are a few men who do.

My sister, your post made me laugh...
Women, there's nothing wrong helping your husband financially but, please, don't make him feel comfortable while spending your money. Make demands and get him take up his responsibilities - it is the man ordained role to provide for his family. The woman's money actually belong to her - not the family!
For Tiwa - she saw it coming from day 1! The same thing goes for many women... ladies are getting desperate to marry. I won't be surprised if another pretty babe agrees to marry Tunji!
