ELECTION POSTPONED! OH DEAR! OH NO!

5 WAYS THIS SUDDEN ELECTION POSTPONEMENT HAS AFFECTED MY FAMILY

  1. The house is full of school children who should be in school right now studying. Schools closed for a week. Are they now going to postponement resumption until after the new Election date of February 23?
  2. My neighbour travelled to the village with his family. After shopping just two months ago for Christmas at the village, they had to shop again for what the family will need at the village until the elections are over.
We called to inform them because until 7am this morning, they aren’t aware of election postponement as they all went to bed before 11pm last night, with their voter’s cards placed on the table ready for casting the next day. They have just been informed that Nigeria’s elections are postponed.
  3. My sister’s shop was closed because of the elections. For fear of losing the perishable items, she put them all on sale yesterday Friday February 15th. They were at the market selling till 8pm.
They made sure all the vegetables were sold at giveaway prices and the shop locked for the week as elections were supposed to happen the following day. They are still on the phone counting loses and not ready to go back until Monday.
  4. A family friend called to say that there had a collision on their way to the village in the East, travelling from Abuja to go cast their votes at home, where they all registered.
  5. I cried this morning. Why? It was overwhelming considering that there was no news of postponement before we retired to bed last night. This morning, the shock was too much to bear. My voters card slept with me on the bed. I don’t know how to preserve the voting enthusiasm till last week.
    What really went wrong?
