Wives Connection Ideas For 2014 By Deborah Bala

Hi anty and WC, I got some ideas for 2014, you know me am a foodie! Love cooking and trying new things. Why do we suggest the whole house (those that are interested in the food aspect) each month lets bring a new category of food. Learn and send in recipes etc.

That way we all learn and have fun. This won’t exclude the normal sending of recipes as you wish. But I feel it will bring back the food aspect as some people started coming to the blog because of the food. What do you guys think?

 We can start with
salads and different dressing for January, cakes for Feb, sauces and gravy for march, ice cream for April, snacks and small chop for may, bread and croissant for June, etc. its all up to your discretion anty and other WC members can bring suggestions on how to make 2014 a better year for us all.

  1. I like it, especially that of salad. There's something that is still not right with my salad, apart from it being boring (carrot, cabbage, baked beans n lettuce) hahaha!

  2. Great idea Deborah. I'll suggest we have a facebook page dedicated to WC where we can ask some petty questions that don't necessarily fit into the blog like "what color works best for dark guys, how do i scrub down my toilet walls without scratching my nails etc". we can have a public page coz Ma Eya's fb seems personal.

  3. lol @the toilet scrubbing question hahahaha but haba Debbie Google is already there for such questions but still this is a good idea the only thing i would add is that Eya gets one or two other readers that she trusts to be the page administrators just incase she gets too busy to handle both the blog, Facebook and her professional and private life.

  4. And please ladies before you post foreign recipes whether it is from Togo or Bangladesh please Google it first so that you are presenting as with something close to the authentic thing as possible. Substitutions like using cinnamon instead of cardamom or spring onions instead of red onions are ok but please try and make sure the foreign recipe you are posting is as authentic as possible and that you have it's name right. If you are making a Nigerian inspired foreign dish please call it so. It is very much ok to say "this is my adaptation of Ghanian Banku" as opposed to telling us this is Ghanian Banku when all the ingredients are nowhere near what is used in Ghana. To adapt a recipe you MUST use all the staple ingredients and only make substitutions with optional ingredients or same family ingredients (like the onion example) or make additions like adding milk, not using pepper etc.

  9. Nice post. WHAT will happen when I make something nice nd it dosnt tally with what's trending on the blog? Like I bake a cake and I can't share, why because its "soup month"?? I don't get? Like seriously? This is very childish, the variety in the posts is what has been spicing and keeping this blog for a long time! When you open and you see ewedu soup juunst under the pancake post. Because people coming here are different! We all love differnt things and don't want to be subjected to a boring month of how to make stew in like fifteen different ways. Let's just be ourselves okay? No rules! I learn from your moringa salad you learn from my coconut rice.simultaneously that is! Eya,its your blog, pls think things through before implememting.Don't just do what people want.thanks,love. .. PRINCESSA

  10. Hv u tried soaking seasoned chicken in honey over night? In the fridge that is. Then frying. The next day. I'm talking About shredded chicken. On christmas day, I wrapped a whole pineaapple in foil. Like Apart, from the head, just d body. Then, the tasty chicken was placed on a toothpick(we have longer ones in the market now).put diced cucumber on a toothpick followed by a piece of chicken or two pieces then another cucumber and etc till the tooth pick if full.repeat the process, stick this into the wrapped pineapple.like it will just be sticking our @ u,delicious, and beautiful. Do this until the pineapple is coverd, with the toothpicks, having chicken on them, begging u to eat them.lOl.

  11. Princessa I expressly said "This won't exclude the normal sending of recipes as you wish. So I don't know how my suggestion is childish, as I said its a suggestion that is open to everyone in the house and anty eya and am not imposing it on her pls. Besides I won't mind learning how to make stew in 15 diff ways as I just learnt how to make stew the yoruba buka way which I never knew before.

  16. @Deborah bala if you know how to assemble suya on a skewer you can make chicken kebab. It depends on the type of kebab you want to make though coz there are different types the simplest is the skewer one where you interchange and assemble chicken pieces with different veggies like red onions, bell peppers, eggplant, courgette/zuchinni etc and then there is the doner kebab that is common in Turkish establishments which is a whole different ball game. Just google some different recipes till you find one that you are comfortable with
