This is how to roast plantain on a stovetop

To roast ripe plantains,  fairly ripe plantains or unripe plantains on a stove. You jeed a heavy base pot or frying pan that can retain heat and cook tge roasted plantains well without quickly burning them.

Low heat is what is need to do stove top plantain roasting.  Once the empty pot,  frying pan or griddle pan is hot, turn down the heat as soon as the peeled plantains are dropped in.

Remember to put a lid on the plantains being roasted on a stove to help trap the heat in and slowly cook the plantains through and through.

For these plantains on this post served with fresh pepper sauce,  I roasted them very well using a griddle pan. Sometimes I roast plantains with my heavy base frying pan and they cook really well.

Above is my recession lunch of fairly ripe roasted plantain served with spicey pepper sauce. Join me at tye table.

Before I gained knowledge on how to roast plantains on a stove,  I used to buy already made roasted plantain by plantains sellers who sell by the roadside. until I discovered my frying pan and griddle pan can grill/roast anything including plantain.

These are roasted on the griddle as shown in the picture below…
Well cooked inside and out.

How to roast/ Grill plantain on a griddle pan:

To roast plantain on a stove,  follow the simple steps I use…

  1. Peel the plantains, sear with a knife and rub a little salt on it. While peeling,  let tye frying pan be on the stove already to get it preheated.
  2. Place your peeled plantains on the preheated pan and cover.
  3. Check after about 20 seconds to see if it’s cooking well. If it’s not yet browning,  cover tge pan again and leave the plantain to roast. If it started to cook on the side, then  flip to enable other sides to cook too.
  4. when satisfied, turn off the heat. Take your well roasted plantains off the heat and serve like I did. Incase there are any burnt parts, clean them off with your kitchen knife  and serve hot. I love it with pepper sauce. The blog already has a post on How to make pepper sauce for storing.

How do you like yours when you roast plantain on a stove? with stew or pepper sauce?
