How to make homemade pizza for the kids

Pizza is very easy to make at home. The main ingredients are just flour, tomato ketchup, and cheese. With those, you can add other ingredients to make any pizza of choice.

Kids love this food and it’s not easy to always buy in this economy. You can put just about anything in a pizza-Fresh pepper, green pepper, chilies, mushrooms, sausages, chicken, ground beef, cooked shrimps, tomatoes, vegetables, and even fruits. More pizza recipes on the blog.

INGREDIENTS  
Ingredients for our homemade pizza for the kids

  • 5 cups  flour
  • 5 cups warm water
  • 2 teaspoons cornflour to sprinkle on the baking tray
  • 5 teaspoons dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons soya vegetable oil
  • Cheese ( Couldn’t find my cheese in the fridge so I used their sandwich cheese and there was just no difference when pizza was cooked. The sandwich cheese unwrapped and place there just melted like grated cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder (optional)

COOKING DIRECTIONS:

  • Sieve the flour into a large bowl
  • Add the sugar, salt, baking powder, yeast, and mix.
  • Make a hole in the centre and pour the water in there, mix and knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes.
  • Cover and leave in a warm place while you go to make the pizza sauce. (how to make pizza sauce directions, below).
  • Brush a baking tray with oil and sprinkle some cornflour. Place the dough on the tray and spread (I did the spreading on my hands before dropping on the tray). Tuck the edges underneath and spread some ketchup before adding the pizza sauce and your choice of toppings (I didn’t stir fry all the vegetables and sausages, left some aside to top on the sauce).
  • After adding the sauce, place the remaining ingredients on that and finally the cheese before baking.
My microwave has a pizza button as can be seen on that collage, so I pressed that and set the timing to 12 minutes. In a normal oven, you may need to bake longer.
 

  PIZZA SAUCE INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 2 onion bulbs finely chopped
  • 1 large tatashe chopped or cut in circles
  • 2 sausages (I used frankfurter)
  • 1 Knorr chicken cube
  • 2 tablespoons Mayonnaise
  • 3 tablespoons Ketchup
  • Green pepper (optional, I removed it because the kids didn’t want)
TIP: Do not stir fry everything, Use like 1/3 and leave a little aside to top on the pizza before spreading cheese. 
 

HOW TO MAKE  SAUCE

  • Add the oil in a pan on very low heat
  • Place the reduced portion of onion and other vegetables in there with your seasoning cube and stir for about 20 seconds or more, add the mayonnaise, stir again and add the ketchup and/or tomato paste. I used ketchup only. Taste and allow to sweat or simmer for about 1 minute, if you are satisfied with the taste, turn on the heat and return back to the dough that has been waiting ( Cooking directions above).
Preparation and cooking took about 30 minutes altogether. Pizza serves 7
