How Do I Believe In Something Am Not Convinced About?

Good evening Aunty Eya, thank you for everything I have learn since I started following the blog in 2013. Now, I am not a religious person but there are questions bothering me. I would really like to know how can you love Someone that you’ve never met? Can you love an idea
of someone? Also , is there someone out there that can tell me what is God’s salvation plan? Can someone tell me if God’s salvation plan only includes his elect? Can someone tell me God’s definition of free will? I  want to learn.

  1. The salvation plan depends on which religion you follow. Again the plan depends on the religion. Not exactly because even in texts it's not clearly laid out. You can love a fantasy anyway.

  2. I've tried really hard to believe but no one's actually been able to answer these questions I've read the bible finally after 20 years of being a Christian instead of listening to people's (clergy) interpretation of doctrine and the salvation plan and free will . I realized that I've never loved God because I've never sat down and had a conversation with him. I was terrified as a child of the fact he could send me to hell or cause sickness or take one of my family members. I think it's hard to love someone you fear. I read of the atrocities of God in the Old Testament and realized that no God would ever condone the murder of entire tribes of people including women and children, but the Israelites were allowed to keep the virgins for themselves. I then realized man created God in order to commit these crimes against people. The fact that God supports slavery in the old and New Testaments. That God says if you don't believe in his salvation plan (vague at best) you'll spend eternity in hell . This is considered free will, free will would offer a third option which I would take. The description of heaven seems to be peace and tranquility but along with that comes the constant worship and praise of God (again a being I've never met) does God have an ego problem? This sounds more like living in North Korea .

I was taught that Jesus brought a message of peace and love , but Jesus said he didn't come to earth bringing peace but a sword. I read in two different passages where Jesus said he would return within the lifetimes of those in his presence, has it happened?????
We are only introduced to hell and torment in the kinder New Testament. If heaven does exist I don't want to go without family and friends. The whole fall from grace event sounds like a set up and we know God likes to wager (Job) . Let me see if I have it right. God created man and woman and placed them in the garden of Eden , then placed the tree of knowledge of good and evil. He told Adam and Eve not to eat of the tree of knowledge or they would surely die but he forgot to tell them that he also allowed the devil in to the garden disguised as a snake. The devil coaxed eve into eating of the tree then eve convinced Adam to do the same and there you have the fall of man and woman. God knew Adam and Eve would fail but instead of destroying the devil and removing the temptation of the tree of knowledge of good and evil he chose to send billions of people to hell not to mention the torture and death of his only son.

  3. Poster, only GOD would make these things clearer to you. You cannot rationalize God with your human senses and knowledge. With God, the wisdom of this world is foolishness. The cross is foolishness to them that perish; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
God does not want, had never wanted, anyone to go to Hell. It’s a choice we make individually – whether deliberately or not. What is your choice – life or death? Not choosing is a choice in itself!
