My Six month Old Lacks Head Control

Please could you post my question in your blog so anyone that’s had a similar experience can comment.
My daughter is currently six months old and she can’t hold her head yet. our pediatrician directed us to a physiotherapist but the exercises we have been doing haven’t changed things much. she’s rolling over and meeting all her other mile stones except the head control which she can’t hold for more than five seconds and when she does it tilts to the side though she can

freely move it from one side to the other.

Please, if anyone has had this experience, please share your thoughts on how it was overcome. Thanks.

  1. Dear poster, while we read comments and other readers' experiences, please see your Paediatrician again or try another. Babies are different and what works for one mother might not work for another. They may need to carry out some tests so please take her to the hospital. I am happy she is covering other mile stones well, there is hope.

  3. @ Anon 1.56pm,get Glycerine (not too sure of the spelling) by Moko,u can dip Cotton bud into it and be using it to clean the tongue.Tell the pharmacist that Glycerine that is meant for baby's mouth wash,it's in liquid form in a small bottle made by MOKO.

@ the poster as advised by Eya,take her to the hospital for proper advise.

  4. My sis had d same probs with daughter. She went to see specialists and they assured her her baby is fine and that she will be fine. About a month later when she was 7 months she was able to balance her head and support it. I must say my sister was really worried and stressed out. This was 8 years ago and shez now a growing healthy young lady.

  6. They is this brush for babies that u put ur finger in as the holder,it is rubber in nature, warm a clean water, add a little salt in it and deep the brush in it then use it to remove the dirts or better still use a babies face towel deeped in warm water + alittle salt to clean it. Pooster, the only thing I will tell u is to visit another hoSpital,I know this girl who gave birth but up to 6month she wasn't able to hold her neck and people were saying that when she given birth to that a vein at her neck was affected but the girl can really hold her neck now but I don't know what the parent did to her. I will try and find out.

  7. I use glycerine of borax, moko product to clean my baby's tongue. Just use a small towel and use sparingly. The white sticky substance is cleaned off automatically.

  8. Babies hit milestones differently. I will take her to see a pediatrician just to confirm what we already know isn't a problem. Do more tummy times (laying her on her tummy few times a day. Pick her up when she gets uncomfortable, wait a while then do it again) it strengthens their neck muscle. It sounds like your daughter isn't getting enough practice. Good luck
