Home-Made Akara Balls Without Eggs, Onions, Crayfish

My Home-Made Akara Balls Without Eggs, Onions, Crayfish. So, here is our recipe for homemade akara balls without eggs, onion, crayfish. I published a post on making healthy akara balls at home. In
an older post,
explained how to make akara balls. From skinning the beans,
to milling or blending with ingredients like crayfish etc, to frying in hot oil and serving HOT.
In case you missed that post, find it HERE.

Manually skinning beans for akara balls, this can also be done using the pulse button on your blender or a food processor to easily remove beans skin

On another akara making post, the ingredients included crayfish and eggs.
It was
very rich and tasty. While we the adults enjoyed it so much,
Well, all My girls complained that the akara smelled like crayfish and they didn’t like it much.
I promised to make the regular akara balls for them,
Here they are.

My Ingredients for homemade akara balls without onion

  • Skinned beans
  • Red Pepper
  • Salt
  • water
  • Vegetable oil

Frying the homemade akara balls without eggs, onion and crayfish is always the same,
just fetching the salted ground beans and dropping in the hot vegetable oil.
Frying is the same as THIS HERE

After frying the akara, the corn starch (akamu) is cooked with boiling water,
sweetened and served hot.
The akamu served here is sweetened with honey,
while the one served in my earlier post was sweetened with sugar. See the recipe HERE.
On that post, the balls were rounder and I showed the kind of spoon that helps create very round akara balls.

Enough of patronizing the over-peppery akara seller. This doesn’t take time to make.Enjoy as breakfast or dinner.

For those who cannot tolerate onions, eggs and even crayfish (used on the other akara post), this is very good for you. Make and enjoy this homemade akara balls without eggs, onion, crayfish. Just simple and nutritious with authentic akara balls flavour.
Can be served with corn starch (akamu), custard, oats etc.
I have seen people eat akara with bread.
