Can My Wife Retain This Baby Weight While Breast Feeding Our Baby?

Good morning all,
I am guy of 32, I came across your blog few weeks back. my issue is, my
wife is currently pregnant, first pregnancy after a year of our
wedding. she was very skinny when we got married and in her pregnancy
but once she got to her second trimester she has been putting on this
magnificent weight which am loving every bit of.

she is prettier, building those hips and looks very very mature, which I love.
The problem is I want her to bottle feed our baby after delivery by
Gods grace, cos breastfeeding will
make her shed those weight and go
back to her old self which will make her uncomfortable as usual, but
she is bent on breastfeeding.

says she can keep her pregnancy weight
even after delivery. I don’t want to hurt her by insisting on bottle
feeding after all she is the mother.  she always gives in to my
decision on anything (one of the attributes that will make me die for
her anyday) i want her to have her way to breastfeed our child. that
is why I’ have come to your blog to know if truly it’s possible to
keep the pregnancy weight which both of us have come to love a lot.

If there is any special tips and diet to help keep the body we want, please share with us.
thank you.

  1. Bros go and do ur research. Find out the benefits of breastfeeding as against bottle feeding (clue: Google). You owe ur child the best as s/he didn't ask to be born. Put ur selfish desires aside n focus on what isbest for that cchild. She may not even lose the weight. Besides if her size was so important to u, why didn't you marry a curvier woman? Please give ur child the best!

  2. Your wife will even gain more weight during breast feeding. Especially, if she does exclusive breast feeding. First exclusive is sedentary in nature. So she has to be home all day. Then she has to eat very well, to be able to produce enough breast milk for the baby. If I were you, I'll worry more about when she wants to wean the baby. But she definitely won't be as skinny as she was before the pregnancy.

  3. Hello everyone. I'll advice you allow your wife breadtfeed because it's best for your baby. Builds thw child s immunity as well. As for the weight, I'll advice she sticks to a balanced diet because that weight depends on her nature. Some ppl shed weight and some gain while breastfeeding. I have had 3 kids and gradually adding weight after no 3. My husband would do anything for me to be curvy too but its just my nature to be slim. He keeps telling me to eat more n compliments my body when I'm pregnant. So pls appreciate her as she is, everything takes time so be patient.

  5. What insults are u on about? Do u understand English at all? And if the poster hasn't complained, why do u have to? Maybe he understands ungarnished truth unlike u who is being too sensitive. Calm down and read again.

  6. Your wife will eventually put on weight now that she has started having children. Just make sure she also watches it else she might put on too much weight. I know of a woman who was very slim when she got married and even after she started having children. She kept wishing she puts on some weight, which she eventually did after her third child. Now she is complaining again that she has become too big.

  7. TRuth is she may or may not retain the weight. women respond differently to bfeeding. one friend lost a lot and another friend of mine gained weight. milking did nothing for her weight.
the most important thing here is that you love your wife and value her opinion even though you know she submits to you. you're a good man for that. in this case though, breastfeeding will give her joy you can't buy in the market. if a woman wants to breastfeed and you prevent her from doing it, her joy will not be full. Since you like making her happy, then let her do it and also insist that she eats well during the time. God bless you

  9. @Poster,pls allow ur wife breastfeed your baby.
Even if its not exclusive bcos of her job(if she's working)…allow her breastfeed the baby most times and at least for the 1st 6 months.
    Breastfeeding is essential.
As for ur wife's body, she shld feed well.If she retains the pregnancy weight, good.
If she doesn't,be happy with her that way.
    Afterall u met her slim.

  10. Look at from this angle, you wife will eventually add a little weight as she has more children and her metabolism slows down, so you'll eventually get the banging body you desire, but if your child misses out on breastfeeding now he'll never get the benefits and nutrients he would have gotten if breast fed not even from the most expensive baby formula/milk. And speaking from experience she'll retain somethings, like her hips and ass will probably never go back to normal,it just would not be massive. Secondly pls try to make your wife KNOW and UNDERSTAND that you will love and be attracted to her no matter her size, or shape, and please don't make her choose between the well being of her newborn and the needs of her husband, because if something happens to the baby in future(God forbid) she will never forgive you or herself for not breastfeeding (even if it has nothing to do with it).

  11. Anon 8.57 your comment is actually rude. Everyone below has given same advice but with respect to the poster. You can pass across you views without being rude. Just saying. Manner of approach is important. Always speak to others the way you want them to speak to you even if you feel the person is foolish or not very bright.

  12. Plz let her bfeed the baby. Yes its best for d baby and she gets to experience bfeeding.
She may or may not keep the extra weight, if she does its a plus for u,if she doesn't then 'nothing spoil' bcoz you married her slim and her slim figure didn't stop you marrying her. I'm sure her non physical attributes is what u feel in love with in d 1st place.
Also focus on praying for safe delivery of baby and non complicated birth of a healthy baby and a proud mother.

  13. Poster dear, there is a possibilty she will loose the baby whether she breast feeds or not. My candid advice is allow her breastfeed. About wanting her to keep the weight I strongly advice you wait, this is her 1st baby by the time other babies begin to arrive I hope you don't start complaining. Take it from a sister who got married @ size 10, 2 babies later size 18 and struggling to run from 20. Wish you guys a safe delievery and a happy hOme.

  14. Dear Poster, Your write up reminds me of my self, there is nothing I didn't take to add weight, My first child is 10 yrs old and my last(4th) is 13months old. I breastfeed all my babies and they were all very plump lovely babies. I tried family planning just to see if I can add weight, I didn't. After every delivery I eat and promise myself not to loose the weight but I do within a few months.
The thing is I am lucky to be the fresh looking type, with solid beautiful legs (as per looks God blessed me even to my hair), I noticed while am busy spending so much time and resources to add weight my friends are spending double to loose weight every one seems to envy my size. I will be 37 in Nov, but people who don't know me think am btw 23 and 25, they are always shocked to find out am married with 4 kids for that matter. My point is let your wife be, how God designed her to be is what fits her best health wise and all. Moreover she will be a chic in your eyes for a long time to come.
Hi Everyone! this is a shout out to y'all. Am really feeling you all, I come here to chill and connect with people especially when am bored or feeling down, @ Aunty Eya keep it up.
