Still No Breast milk, What Can I Do Please?

Hello aunty eya, goodmorning pls I need aLil help, from you and your readers.I had a baby two days ago and there's still no breast milk,it was a natural delivery so I'm really worried. With my first child it started flowing immediately. Plus does anyone have any tip or had this experience?

I would really appreciate it if you'll be able to post the message immediately. Thank you.

  1. My milk doesn't flow until after two days, so I'm quite used to this. What I do is give glucose until milk comes. It's normal sis. Take lots of fluids. This time around even while still at the hosp, I took so much water, Fumman orange juice, kunu, pap and other drinks to aid milk production. Now we have excess milk sef. Rest too is very important.
Relax and take care of your baby pls. By this night, your milk should flow.

It's not advisable to take both as pregnacare already contains folic acid. Just stick to one. Hope this helps

U can add the regular folic acid pilks (yellow small pills).
the folic acid in pregnacare is not enough. U can read d literature on the pack urself nd also speak to ur Doc.

Congrats Eya and the other New mum. It is normal not to produce milk soon after delivery. It is nothing to worry about, just make sure you are getting quality rest, then always put the baby to suckle ur breast even if nothing is coming out for now. Then as Eya said you can give glucose (people do that though I don't). My milk flows about the 3rd day. Good luck.

  6. Had the same delay with my baby. Infact I cried and cried for two days because I felt something is wrong. I later understood that its normal. Just take liquids lots of it and when bathing uses a towel with warm water to massage your breast. Hope that helps.

Same wit me o! My baby will b 2months on sunday yet no enough breast milk 4 baby I real want to do baby friendly I also experience it wit my first baby. I have tried everything yet is not enough now am force to u formula which i didn't want to use. Am so sad.

    1. Please don't be sad. I experienced the same with my 3 babies. I mixed fed them from birth (both breast and formula). When my 3rd baby was 2 weeks I stopped mix feeding and did exclusive but I gave up after one month bcoz he was constantly crying as he was stil hungry, he was almost always glued to my breast yet still hungry and I was getting furstrated as I had other kids to deal with so I went back to mxed feeding.
That was a huge relief bcoz he was calmer, slept MUCH longer, cried less, he was generally a happier baby and I regained my sanity.

At almost 5months I stopped breast feeding while my other 2 refused the breast at 4.5months. I do not regret not bfeeding for 6months or 1yr at all as I have realised not all ladies produce enough milk(I happen to be amongst them and my 3 sisters) even if we drink milky tea, pap, lots of fluid, oats, pepper soup and everything else that helps milk production.

Just enjoy your baby and motherhood. As long as your baby is having some breast milk exclusive or not e no matter jor. The health, welfare, safety and happiness of your baby is more important.
