Nigerian Women In Government, Speak Up For Slain Students Or Resign Now

The Yobe School Killings; A Tragedy For Nigerian Mothers-

Dear Aunty Eya,
Congratulations on your recognition as a popular African Women’s blog. I and many women like myself have learned so much from this blog. In view of the tragedy that occurred in our Country yesterday, I have decided to write to you and other Nigerian wives and mothers on this blog.
I woke this morning to the news that there was another attack on a secondary school in Yobe yesterday that left 43 children dead and I froze. Another attack! More defenceless children. Children who were in their dormitories, away from parental care and probably not under any adult supervision or protection. I began to imagine that one of those children was mine. I have just one child, I had him after six years of trying and earnest prayers. I almost lost my life in the process of childbirth due to complications.
I imagined that I woke up and heard over the news that my son’s school was attacked by these animals. Throats slit, gunned down, burnt in a dormitory, such brutality. My baby, my precious one, who is away from me, at school!  No I can’t even think about it. I would surely slump and die or kill myself. (Lord, may our children not experience this) Yet these young ones are the babies of Nigerian women just like me.
I saw the pictures of the children who were shot and I have been crying and have not been able to concentrate at work. I just could not briefly express shock and go on  with work like my other colleagues. I have been shaken to the core, does human life not have value in our country?
26 children were killed in the US by a madman and the whole world focused on this story for almost 2 weeks. The case was
investigated to make sure no one was liable for any negligence, yet 43 of our own children have been brutally murdered and all some of us as women can say is may they Rest In Peace. Rest in peace? They will never rest in peace because their blood will continue to cry against their killers, and against the ones who were supposed to protect them: the school authorities, the security agencies, the JTF, the government. Their blood will cry out against us if we just go on as if nothing happened, we must do something.  I hope at this time, there are no schools open in these states under state of emergency””. All the schools in these states should be shut with immediate effect since the security of these little ones cannot be guaranteed, let them stay home with their parents.
This “school-attack” has happened for the second time in this country within the span of a few months. In spite of the huge security vote, military service chiefs and lip-service? And to imagine that there are women and even mothers in this Government? And not one of them has said anything? No visit to the school to recover their bodies and return same to their parents? No outrage from any of our fellow women and mothers in government? Please women in government fear God because you have children of your own. If you cannot speak out and defend the children of the masses when God has given you the opportunity to do so, no one will speak up for your children and your money will not insulate them from the Law of God.  I expect ALL THE WOMEN IN THIS GOVERNMENT TO RESIGN IN PROTEST  IF THEY CANNOT GARNER ENOUGH SUPPORT TO MOVE FOR IMPEACHMENT OF A GOVERNMENT THAT HAS FAILED NIGERIAN MOTHERS. They should not keep mute in the face of this recurring tragedy.
Here I am, sad and helpless not knowing what to do as an individual about this situation. I have decided to pray about it and talk about it. I have decided to pray,” O Lord Avenge. Let the blood of these young ones be precious in your sight, Lord let the sword of Your Vengeance visit the killers in Jesus name, let the sword of Your vengeance visit the Sponsors and promoters of this group Boko-Haram. Let your Vengeance come upon those that have knowledge of Boko-Haram and could have done something but decided to keep quiet. O Lord arise and intervene, that all may know that You are the God that rules over the affairs of men. Let Your Justice come speedily and restore Peace O Lord”. This I pray in Jesus Name. I will continue to pray this prayer for seven days, I implore all readers of this blog to join me.
Please let any Muslim mother in the house add her own prayer. This is all I have to say for now. I hope you will post this on your esteemed blog, Aunty Eya.
 God bless you,
 Uche.

  8. God bless you Uche for this. I join you in your prayers. I'm ashamed of our leaders. These killings don't even shake them.

I also heard that about 20 girls were kidnapped by these beasts and no one seems to be doing anything about it. I shiver when I try to imagine what those animals might have done to those girls. Lord have mercy…

  11. They have readily prepared condolence messages which they always read on occasions like this. If one big man dies through plane crash or by any means they will declare national mourning with the news and condolence messages in all the media but when thousands of people are killed by book haram, all we hear is the president condemns it. It ends there. Is there any position worth the life of an innocent Nigerian?.Are there no practical measures that can really put an end to this gruesome murder? Which way Nigeria?
