Should We Sell Baby Placenta?

With recent developments in places like Lagos, maybe it has spread all over Nigeria, who knows? Families should please remember to take their placenta home. I know the money involved is much. If one placenta can sell for 1.5 to 2 million Naira, I'm afraid.

If it's just for pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, well, maybe fair but, we hope rituals are not involved.
To be on the safe side.
Take your placenta home. If there is no where to bury it yourself, you could buy a place. It is safer knowing where your baby's placenta is.

If you live in a skyscraper? I don't where you can bury yours. Can't it be flushed????
Please let us all beware of some monies that present themselves. Money is good, yes, but, may we never collect money that will sell an innocent  chid's destiny or soul. This is Naija o.

With all these landscaping tinz now, maybe families will start buying plots of land just to bury placenta.

What do you think? Should we sell placenta?

There's nothing we won't hear in this country, initially it was people giving birth to babies just to sell them and make money, now its giving birth just to get the placenta.
In my language humanbeing is called MMANDU.which presupposes the beauty of life. but on a daily basis the sanctity of the human life is trampled upon. May God help us.

Bizarre happenings will always be in Africa!
Why are they buying it with such huge amounts of money if it's for medical purposes?
Well,If it is,then the buyers should come out openly to enlighten the pple and govt so approval can be given for it to be used legally for medical purposes as such fears of the pple will be reduced.

Ignorance isn't always bliss after all. Google is our friend. Placenta can used to cure many many illness. When giving birth overseas you are offered to even store them for future use in case your child develop a deadly disease. Hospitals give you the option of handing over to them for medical use such as treatment leukemia and many others for children who might match with the placenta. I do understand why some people will be afraid to give it away in Nigeria though. A doctor advised I save the ambilical cord that falls off the baby after a few weeks? It could come handy if needed.

Am so glad to be out of that sick country called Nigeria,I can't remember the last time I heard good news from there, from one bad news to another.placenta was usually buried after childbirth,to hear people buy it these days for such an amount is sickening.

Sorry if this is a silly question, but can it be burned the way some people ask for their dead bodies to be cremated? If there is no spiritual problems involved after this act, I think it could be a good idea because then you can just dispose of the ashes.

  9. What for goodness sake is all this about? Can people be sane for once? Selling the placenta is not decent for any reason, the hospital knows how best to dispose of it.

  13. Personally I'm not noved by all these. I think you will have spiritual complications if you believe you will have them. To me, the placenta has served it's purpose. It is a waste product. Whether you sell, bury, or burn it, it shudnt be an issue. Those people who pee on the road dring road travels in the middle of no one or even poo there, do you know what people do with it? To me the placenta osnt any different. It is a waste product.

I has a school mate who used to wash her disposable sanitary pads before disposing of them. I laughed. The world is evil, yes, but the power of God is stronger. Once you are born again, you can not enter any covenant except you conscioisly decide to enter it. There is no law against eating ur placenta, but that is just plain barbaric! Hoha!

Bad people can get what they want anytime, you can't be careful enough. Wether you dispose of ur sanitary pad, placnta and whatever, they can collect your hair or nails....or do you say you will never hug anyone? or go to the salon or sit beside anyone in a bus? Wat of ur favorite resturant or mama-put? Do u enter d kitchen to inspect the food? What happens to the bones you have cracked and licked and kept back into the plate? Dnt you know ur saliva is on it?

Pardon my sermon but I dnt understand why christians are so afraid of evil. If you know what God saves you from per second, you'll faint! Yes, the world is evil, but God's power is so much more and His love is awesome!!

As far as I am concerned, we aint seen or heard nothing yet. Greater evils are coming my people...just make up ur mind to be on the winning team.

Nice one ther Ada. I always say this if you really want to be careful then lick yourself up in a room and stay there. Evil abounds us all the time and it is not by out might or our tactful ness but the grace of God that we survive.
On another note the placenta is not a waste product as you said but studies has shown that it contains a lot of antibiotics and in the west a lot of women keep the placenta for future use. It has been shown that elements in the placenta can cure ones baby of certain chronic ailments.

@ ahdaisy. U r so on point. I dont understand why we are so afraid of evil that abounds. Is it by being overtly cautious dat we get through d day? Greater is He that is in me,than he that is in the world says the bible. Am not moved by all these codswallop: juju,witchcraft,jazz,badbellys.etc. Miss Peony.

d asia countries use d placenta & aborted babies 4 medicinal products wch r imported 2 Nigeria as miracle pills.
d bizmen have found a new outlet 2 make money, bcus d supply from hosps cannot meet d demand, so they rich out 2 d poverty-stricken Nigerians.
if it's 4 rituals, nothing stops them from kidnapping pregnant women.
    it's a matter of choice.

  18. My country peepo, keep calm, enjoy your sunday rice and let not your heart be troubled. Fear not. The world is way more 'eviler' than you can ever comprehend. If you were to start getting scared over everything unseen and seen, Nna men, you go tire. God said it won't work, whatever evil people plan against us. So, however, whichever, it won't work.
