What Do I Add To Cakes?

What Do I Add To Cakes?.   Dear Aunt Eya
Thanks so much for this blog. I must confess I have learnt a lot from it. God bless you real good. Your recipe for stew and native chicken was a great hit in my house.

Please, I have a question to ask, I always feel there is something missing from
my cakes after I bake them. Even if people enjoy them, I still feel there is something missing. I use the following ingredients, flour, butter, sugar, eggs, baking powder, flavors, alcohol, raisins and milk.

Please can anyone with a recipe containing any addition to the above ingredients let me know. Thanks and God bless.

  1. Hi Viva, good morning, how are you?
Next time please take away the milk and alcohol except you want to preserve the cake for a long time. If not, you don't need alcohol. The milk too is not needed. You know cake doesn't need water and milk contains water.
Have a great day. Let me post sha, other readers may have something to add.

  3. It depends on the cake recipe… You can add chocolate, nuts, coffee, banana, yogurt, vinegar, jam, treacle, cheese, apples, and a lot of others. Just look for new recipes online and adopt some. The cake you described is just the normal Nigerian cake. There are a lot of new ways to prepare the same recipe you mentioned and get a different taste. it's all about trying new things baby!

  4. I beg to differ. You can add milk and water conveniently. I baked chocolate cake with evaporated milk and vegetable oil. Got the recipe from a foreign website and it turned out superb. Would try to get the link or bake it again and send pictures. The ingredients are 1 3/4 cup flour, 2 cups of sugar, 1/3 cup cocoa, 2 teaspoon baking powder, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1 cup of milk, 1/2 cup of vegetable oil, 1 cup boiling water and 2 eggs. In a bowl mix all the dry ingredients together, then add the eggs gently followed by milk and vegetable oil. The boiling hot water should be the last ingredient added, the batter would be kinda watery. Pour into a well greased Pan and bake for 35 to 45 mins or when toothpick inserted comes out clean. The cake is so tasty and moist. Pure chocolate cake

  5. Add vanilla extract or you can squeeze lemon juice into your cake batter. It gives it a nice flavor and taste. But this depends on the type of cake tho
