Vote For Free Or Gated Comments

Good Day Dear Blog fam...

This is the first time I'm sending in a post for publication on this blog and all I'm asking for is not your advice but your vote.

I want aunty Eya to put it to a vote, yes... I only noticed recently that our comments are now being gated. I remember just one person advising that

on the blog this week, and now we have it.

Amongst the reasons I love being here is that:

 (1) My comments gets on immediately
(2) We don't have to beg before our comments are posted unlike other blogs
 (3) This is the new age communication and information travels instantly and real-time, even Facebook doesn't gate comments.

Note: On other blogs where comments are gated all sorts of stuff's are eventually posted and all sorts of battles and bickering still takes place.

Gating our comments will end up reducing our communication time, it'll make you spend more time on a single post and it will most-deff create an "I don't care" attitude towards some post considering the gating.

If you feel the same way like I currently do, please vote for "free-commenting". Our strength must be in our "unity in diversity". We must "disagree to agree & agree to disagree".

And please Aunty Eya, if this vote fails to pass note that the day my comment(s) get barred of delayed I go vex, I go para. In fact, I go create "Blog Boko Haram" just to fight that injustice.
From:
Ben Ehimen Iyoha (Ace Bentley)

**Your vote can be the winning vote.
Please use the comment section to vote. Counting will be done tomorrow.

  1. yup am in support of the free comment, yesterday I was somewhat annoyed when after commenting it took aunty Ojay 20years to post d comments, and I never saw mine.
If u're doing it to curb the hateful comments,I'll suggest u delete dem once they appear here. to me I even love it more when am attacked, feels gud to know and giving someone a reason to spare a thought or pay attention.
Ace my Oga at the top,u got my vote. Domo sir

Comments also brings traffic to d blog, but there are exceptions ,when a comment gets too personal or is directed@ another person's comment,it shld pls be deleted.

Aunty Eya, i was planning to e-mail you but i guess i might as well air my views on this post. sorry if i'm diverting from the main am of this post. i noticed you deleted Ahdaisy's post yesterday just when i was about to read it. when i checked i also noticed u had deleted the post about 2facedonating his trad weddng stuffs to charity.

I dont know why u deleted those post but i'm guessing people were at each other's throat. Why do you have to delete posts because pple are bickering at each other? if they argue and disagree on every single post you put up will you delete all the posts? if so, then i dont think you are ready to blog. i love your blog because i feel we are a close knit family here. people disagree to agree and even blood sisters argue and have fights. we dont have to agree on every single thing. we have different upbringing, attitude and perspective so it's expected in a forum like this that pple will have different views and some people could take it personal. the thing is people have already formed an opinion about certain people here and deleting posts will not change that opinion. their disagrements and dislike for each other will always play out on every post you put up. moreover, this blog is a tonic for high BP. i personally love reading the comments cos they keep me sane. #nuffsaid#

  23. I'm also in support of free commenting, I think just like in everyday life and interaction ur bound to meet people that their opinions differ from urs it's left for u to decide what advice u will take. I know some people can be rude and offensive but this is an online community you should not take to heart everything people say after all they don't know the first thing about you and are probably just making assumptions. If someone makes a comment u don't like just ignore them. I believe we should all just try to "agree to disagree once in a while".
    Thanks

  29. I used to be of the opinion that comments should be censored but I realised that there really is no point.
Like I said in an earlier post, there'll always be cyber bulling and it exists everywhere. The most we can do on here is to ignore such comments and keep it moving.
Agreed, people are entitled to different opinions but the fact that some people take it too far shouldn't be something that worries anyone. Not everyone you know in real life likes you so why let some unknown person on the internet get to you?

    ReplyDelete
  30. I vote for free comments as well. It makes for a free flow of dialogue. It's unfortunate that people sometimes go too far, but that's real life for you.
    Just delete offensive comments ok?

  35. I vote for FREE commenting! It was like blog commenting utopia for me when I discovered this blog. Apart from the wonderful recipes which were the main attraction for me. People need to learn or be mature enough to deal with cyber cowards - IGNORE them cos what they are really seeking is attention. When they don't get it, they get bored and skedaddle. LIB, even with her gated comments, you still see people commenting at each other's throats. Believe me, the rancour is usually what attracts traffic to a post.

And for anyone feeling attacked on a post, I recently read somewhere that sticks and stones are only thrown at ripe fruit hanging on a tree in order to bring them down. No one bothers with the green, unripe fruit. So, if your comment gets maligned or attacked, rest assured that you must be doing something right! :-)

With that said, as the blog owner, Eya, please feel free to delete any comment which is reasonably considered offensive or outright insulting.

That girl has d thickest skin I have ever seen. She will still post the comments where they abuse her d most. N trust me people send her threatening mails. So my advice is that u should learn to ignore. I know its not every one that can ignore but when people like that provoke u just thinking of people like linda n ignore them.

Life is not just about attracting traffic to your blog...Every blog should have a particular design that it should take. Let Nobody compare your blog to Lindas...both of you are different and with different reasons for starting the blog. Who told you that you can't be sucessful if you don't do it Linda's way. Trust me,nothing can stop a succesful blog even if the comments are gated. The most important thing is that you are making a difference with your blog and one day people will look for a blog where different opinions are respected and there are no hateful comments and comments are decent, diverse and responsible and they will come to your blog. Just because LIB is sucessful and allows haters and damaging comment even to her person does not mean you should tow that path. I will still be here no matter what is agreed on,whether gated or not. Your blog is your story and your vision and trust me if it is bound to be a success nothing can stop it....Just do You. Just like in the real world, some people can take hateful comment and laugh at it,some will hear such and cry their heart out, while some will ignore you and keep positivity around...likewise blogs. There are enough blogs like Lindas out there, they allow hateful comments and yet they are not as suceesful as LIB because they chose a style that works for someone else without thinking if it will work for them. Keep your blog fresh, bring in new things, tips, hearty discussion, make it relatable and the sky is big enough to contain more than one person. Thanks. GLADDENED HEART

Some people think that blogs are avenues to voice out frustration building up in them but pls you need to see a therapist instead. Even at that, there are enough blogs to do that or go open a twitter page and start tweet thuging people but don't think every blog is for that. Aunt Eya pls delete comments that are hateful and attack a persons fam. I see some cyber thugs have started infiltrating here.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I vote for free comments pls. Some people come here to learn and as well also see what others have to say or contribute. Even though some people have to learn that whatever anyone writes or contributes is just his/her opinion and it's not being forced down anyone's throat. So pls let's allow everyone have their own say without attacking them, this isn't a debate competition. That's my own opinion sha.

  53. Since pple are emboldened by the cloak of anonymity to make deeply offensive comments, another thing you could consider is to somehow bar anonymous posts.
Pple could use a cyber handle and not necessarily post with their real names, that way we would be able to attach names to comments and folks might think twice b4 resorting to verbal abuse.
