I Need Help With A Million Naira Business Idea

Dear Aunty Eya,
Thank you for the good work you are doing on your blog…. God bless.
Aunty, please I would like you to post this email on your blog because I need input on an urgent and pressing issue.

I returned from the UK about a year ago (I studied there) I was hoping I would get

a job almost as soon as I get back but I haven’t been able to get one so far. I am not relenting in my efforts as I’m still applying. For now I want to start a business pending when I get a paid employment, if that doesn’t happen then I’ll continue with my business.

The problem now is I don’t know the type of business to go into on a 1million Naira budget. Please my fellow Wivesconnection readers I would like to hear your views/ideas on this because I was away for 7 years and I don’t know what really works here.
 Btw I live in Lagos.
Kind regards and thanks for your responses which I’m looking forward to.
Barbara

  1. Hi Brenda, have you thought about gold? You can buy cheap from places like Kano and sell at the South or Eastern Nigeria.
I don't know if gold is really selling now sha.
Don't worry sis, getting a Government job in Nigeria can be very frustrating. Hopefully other great Businessmen and women on this blog will help with better ideas.

  3. Well,my own opinion about it is for you to sell what brings in money and profit on a daily basis. How about selling Foodstuff in bags and cartons and drinks too.all this are consumed by people everyday, with God on your side you make your money quickly rather than things that will tie your money down, especially the one that people will buy on credit and won't pay you back on time or some migth not even pay back.

  11. This is actually a good idea. The only problem I have with selling gold is that people are fond of buying on credit. It would be very difficult to make profit from this business if people don't pay up. My aunt used to travel to Italy and Dubai when she used to do this, but she eventually stopped because either they just 'disappear' without paying up, or they wear it to parties etc. and then return it saying that they don't like it anymore. I haven't got a suggestion just yet, but I just felt I should point out a serious con of selling gold.

  13. Thanks éveryone for ur contributions, I really appreciate it. I don't want to go into buying and selling because I have learnt the hard way. I have a lot of money tied down because people bought stuffs I brought on credit and as we speak they're still owing. The most appealing business idea to me right now apart from the internet based business Adhaisy suggested is a service based business. Which I'm seriously considering……Ahdaisy, I've sent u an e-mail, still waiting for ur response. Thanks again guys. a

  18. For me, if u want to start any business, pls start that business with 500k and put the rest in a FD as fall back mny, don't put all u have in a business.
To do business, u have to be passionate about business first, then u need to know what u interested in, is it catering, clothes, food, jewelries, whot are u passionate about, that's the only thing u can sell and sell well.
U can actually try supplies, register a company and look for offices, hotels or banks to supply as lil as tissues or stationaries or as big as vehicles, look the sky is the limit to things u can do, if I sit down, can give u more than 20businesses u can do. Look @ ur friends , family members n look for the services they lack, every business starts with an idea, u can start a neighborhood drycleaning business, u can do small chops for parties, u can package ofada rice n moi moi n take to banks, plenty things u can do, do the pple around u love shoes, u can start a shoe business, clothes, u can sit in ur room, order them n even sell them in ur room n pple credit u. Just find ur passion first, bcos is the passion that will keep u going even when things are rough

A boutique business is not service based, it is buying and selling. A service based business is a kind of business you render services and you get paid for the services., examples of service based business are any type of consulting job, barbing saloon, hair dressing saloon, sewing, dry cleaning. Basically, u dont sell tangible goods but services.

I hope this answers your question?

  24. Service based business is any business that provides a service to people. For instance, catering, cleaning houses, laundry, selling foodstuff, supermarkets, tailoring and so on. It is basically meeting the immediate or basic needs of people.

That's what I think it is anyway.

  27. It's really good to read the listing from Barbara B. Newton and some other people. If you have any business idea, why don't you share it here? Why do you want to send people a private mail? It's not the best, if I must say. Lots of things are happening on the internet today, so, I think it 'll be better when you share your business idea here and let people learn from you, if truly you want to share something.
