Can You Report Husband Raped You? Is It Called Rape?

The New Law on Rape got me smiling when I read it this morning. The Nigerian Senate is doing a great job, God bless them for this Law. It will serve as a big deterrent to rape criminals. I pray other African countries follow suit.
With all the rape cases we hear and read about in Nigeria and other African countries, I think this law is even over due sef. OK, now I'm thinking about married couples. What happens when a husband
rapes a wife or a woman rapes her husband? Does the law still apply here?

In Nigeria and Africa in general, I don't think that any woman can come up to say that she is a victim of matrimonial Bed Rape. If you try it, the next day may meet you in your father's sitting room. But, come to think of it, is it not possible for married couples to be raped by their spouses?

If a married woman is convicted of raping her husband, will she go to jail?

Eya will not kill me with laughter this afternoon ooo, you should have asked the question the other way round. How woman dey take rape man? Men are the ones who rape women dear.

I wish I can report my husband. This man rapes me almost every saturday night after hanging out with friends and drinking alcohol. I may have to start fasting on Saturdays to make him unable to taste alcohol o.

Some Sunday mornings, I wake up feeling so sore that I can't even go to church o. Then when I pee, it's like hot pepper soup in my Veejay. If I refuse, there may be some willing babes outside ready to take even more. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  2. @ Sweet Apple, this thing you are saying is not funny o. Why will he do that? Wow, it's so unfortunate what some women go through.. I mean, you even get sore? It's not good at all. Sorry my dear but you have to look for something to do about it. It is so not normal.

  3. Yes a woman can be raped by her husband. (sadly many women are) It cannot be assumed because she is married to him that he can take it against her will.

Marriage does not give a husband complete authority over his wife's vagina nor those it give the wife control of her husband's penis.

Marriage does not mean the desolving one's human rights, the right to say no.

Some may say it is a wife's duty to perform for her husband however she is not a monkey , a lap dog, or a clown in a circus show. She is a human being with feeling and emotions. If she is being abused in the marriage it would be difficult for her to simply lay down spread her legs to give him pleasure because he is horny, she is not a robot nor is she a prostitute.

Though some women withhold sex and use it as a power tool (don't agree with this head game) this is not true for all women. In ntimate bonded relationships peoples personal automy must be regarded at all times, there must be a mutual respect for each other that does not dessolve due to disagreement. When a man takes it upon himself to rape, violation, humilate, degrigate his wife this is a man with no boundaries or regard for women and that is a problem to all women because it is only a matter of time before he weilds his entitlement outside the confines of his marriage, no woman will be safe with men such as these, we mindful for ourselves, our daughters, mothers, sisters and nieces.

Simply put. RAPE IS RAPE regardless of the confines of the relationship.

This world is strange o! While people r begging their husbands for it, others are being raped. Let ur friend become a bitch too since d man is being a dog (sorry tmi) he will get tired too. Men dont learn with words, action does it. When it comes to libido, women have a higher libido.
She shld initiate it every time, give him styles, make him keep coming after each round, make comments to stroke his ego, and see If he wldnt start running away!

  6. A man can rape his wife oh, however, in this our Nigeria how the woman wan take report the matter and to whom. Family and relations will probably ridicule her as though she's insane for voicing out such "abomination" ,............. is it the Nigeria Police that will come and arrest the man ni?

It can happen but its not recognised by law. A married man can not be convicted of raping his wife, even if they are separated.
I was gutted when we were taught this in school but yes, its true.
The most the wife can do is to bring an action under assault and battery.

@Bonario, pray that your future wife is not like me. I am proud and a very big pretender. I like to feel special and to feel like my hubby is dying for me, so I leave the chasing around the house to him. In my dictionary, he has to initiate it or sorry, nothing for him. I am too proud to start chasing a man to do his work.
**No man can ever try raping me, cos I know where to kick and render them powerless.

I'm not sure how it works in Nigeria but as far as d UK is concerned the law on rape between married pple is did d woman 'CONSENT' ifnot its clearly rape and d same sentence will apply just like any other rape case. I still don't understand y a man will rape his wife coz no matter how a woman is tired n not in d mood for it he can playfully persuade her, do things to her to get her so much in d mood that she can't say no. How does d man face his wife? Lizzy

  10. This rape situation is so sad. If men really want sex everyday or all the time I think with a lot more patience, fore play the woman will be ready. I know this for a fact no matter how tired a wife is once her husband succeeds in making her orgasm she will be willing and ready to satisfy him. But I have heard a lot of stories that 90% of married women have never had an orgasm in their lives....www.secretlililes.blogspot.com

  11. Sad rape in marriage is not an offense in Nigeria but I must commend the Reps for passage of the new law in Nigeria.

  12. Rape within marriage is very common. Recently had a discussion with my colleagues at work (all married men) about this. Some said it wasn't wrong while others couldn't stand the thought of doing that but still agreed that a woman cannot pursue such a case against her husband. I was sick to my stomach. I keep wondering how a man derives pleasure from hurting his wife but a weird thought occurs to me;some of these men start out just being very selfish and arrogant. They always have to their way in everything and it eventually spills into their sex life. Wonder if this line of thinking is logical.

      Yes!
I agree with you on this. I also believe that spoilt kids grow up into spoilt men who must have their way at all times and these men make up the majority of men who beat and rape their wives.

  14. #Gbam! And it's about darn time too... the way rape cases pop up in the news every day nowadays was becoming alarming. Drink water - new rape case - eat food - new rape case - step out of the bathroom - new rape case.

And it was beginning to seem like the Government was deeming it a natural phenomena. Praise the Lord that something is finally being done

    Happy Women's day!
