Re: Pope Benedict XVI Resigns, Super Eagles Coach Stephen Keshi Resigns

Between Men And Women,Who Is Quick To Resign ?

By nature, most men are not as patient and long suffering as the women folk. That is not to say that Pope Benedict XVI or, The Super Eagles Coach Stephen Keshi is  not patient enough,  Capital “NO,”  far from that. Just that, after reading about these two major resignations yesterday, I became so
overwhelmed with different emotions. I was so affected, could not compose myself to writing anything. Y’all saw how I resorted to “repackaging and Re-branding” old posts to save me the stress of writing new Food recipes.

I understand what it means to resign an appointment. Yes! I do!  I had a cause to resign, not once, but  twice in this my young lifetime. I know what it means. Before resorting to resignation, a lot of things come into play: weighing the options, checking again and again to see if  the time is truly ripe, Admonishing  yourself that YOU are not making a mistake; that the decision is not a rash one; that you can cope with the after effect and all that.

For both  men and  women, a lot of things are put into consideration before that Resignation letter is tendered. In the real world, it is so different from what we see in movies where an employee   gets pissed off a little and, without warning, the next scene is that  of the staff majestically throwing a resignation letter at his employer. In movies, it is so easy to take a decision and resign. Most times, viewers do not get to see the “about to Resign staff” thinking about what happens to family and friends after resignation, Home video may not show us the affected man or woman wetting his pillow with streams from his eyes. We don’t get to see them take some pain relievers to calm their nerves as a result of the  decision they are about to make.

In Real Life Experiences, where we have the reality of Status; the reality of life without a source of Income; the reality of Children’s School Fees and Feeding; The reality of medical bills; The reality of water, electricity, gas, transport,  house rents or/and maintenance and so many other REALITIES OF LIFE. It takes guts and a strong will to sit down and draft an I QUIT letter.

Well, someone may say what is Eya talking about. What is difficult about  a teacher resigning? Especially in a society like ours where Teachers are not respected. One thing is sure however, what ever means of livelihood, what ever produces or serves as a steady source of income, no matter how little, is not something to lose. Life after the loss of a job, whether by Willful Resignation or Forced Resignation, is not the same. The only time a Resignation is worth it is when one is sure of a better offer after the Resignation.

Talking about Resignation of Appointments:  I cannot deny the fact that there are JOBS,  there are jobs and there are jobs 🙂   *wink*
For the ones like, Being The Pope of The Catholic Church Worldwide,

Or,  The Coach of The Great Super Eagles of Nigeria, hmmm, these are both great and massive Election/Appointment.

I am just thinking to myself right now ” Imagine  that a woman is The Pope of the Catholic Organization, or that a woman was the Coach of The Nigerian Super Eagles, would these Resignations have taken place just yet? What do you think?

  1. Who says? Women more patient than men? Not on this planet. Given what Stephen Keshi siffered in the hands of The Nigerian Football Federation, any woman, I repeat, any woman would have resigned long before the African Nations Cup is lost and won. Quote me!

  2. It's not easy to resign for both men and women but it depends on the situation. In the end, no matter what, peace of mind reigns supreme although if that is the only source of income, most people will wait it out till they get something else. I don't know why Keshi resigned but there are rumours that NFF didn't value him and had started looking for a replacement for him since. I won't blame him sha for resigning in this case. It will forever be in the history books that he brought us the cup. As for the pope, I guess he knows how much more his body can take? The good thing is I believe he will be taken care of regardless of if he's still in office or not.

  3. I hear that Keshi is now reconsidering and may be coming back. As for the Pope, I totally understand that his age and health is against him. Whether men or women, I think it is better to know when to step down than stay and things are getting worse.

  4. First and foremost,I wish to commend u aunty Ojay for wittingly accomodating an issue of such magnitude in ur blog.goes to show d level of ur intellectual crescendo.
Lemme start first with dat of d supreme pontiff. Being an altar knight for over 13years afforded me peep into one what it entails to lead God's flock. It is a stratetegic position dat requires a person in d right frame of mind and body. I wasn't surprised it came from d former Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, who is known among his peers for being a man of high discipline and a realist. D various commendable developments and his stand as it pertains to such isues such as gay marriage, priest celibacy, abortion, world peace etc also buttereses d personnality of our Pope. Judging from d Canon law and the Vatican II council, his decision is not out of place.

Back to d arguement, though I don't subscibe to d fallacy dat female are d weaker sex,d issue of faith is one important issue which cannot afford to be sacrificed on d altar of emotions. It takes a man with strongwill to call d shots at dat level. And at such level it can be only a man. He didn't quit coz he's a quitter,he left coz he knows what his job as d Bonuspatstor entails.

To stephen Okechukwu Keshi, we all saw him prior to d quaterfinal match, hung in desolation but when he succeeded everyone came to claim relationship.
And yet again,it can only take d strongwill of a man to leave when d ovation is loudest. Trust a woman to wait and savour d moment.
Trust aunty Eya to wait and bask in d euphoria of winning d much coveted title.
But he choose to die or depart with his honour.
    A woman can think like a man,but can't act like a man.loolz
