TOY MAKER RECALLS CUDDLY TOY S BECAUSE THEY COULD CHOKE CHILDREN

Worried that small parts of the toys could become detached and choke kids, a toy firm has been forced to recall one of its most popular lines.

Animagic, which is part of the British toy giant Vivid, said that it had been made aware that its My First Puppy product may prove dangerous to youngsters.

In a statement, it said it was possible that ‘small parts’ of the toy could become detached, presenting a possible choking hazard.

Vivid, which is also responsible for the best-selling Moshi Monsters range, said that no other products were affected by the recall.

A notice, issued today, read: ‘It has come to our attention that the Animagic My First Puppy plush toys do not meet the required standards and it may be possible for small parts to become detached, posing a possible choking hazard to young children.

‘We request anyone who has purchased one of these products to return the item to the retailer for a full refund. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause.’

Items affected include those with the item code 31339.4300, the barcode 5025123313399, and batch codes 181008P3, 181102P3, 181116P3.

On its website, the firm says My First Puppy toys are sold by all the leading retailers including Amazon, Argos, Smyths and Tesco.

They added: ‘The quality and safety of the products we produce is our top priority.

‘We have teams of safety experts, and all of our toys go through rigorous safety assessments and product testing from concept stage through to final production. This ensures they meet or exceed all the relevant standards.’
