Why I chose to braid my natural hair myself and with extensions

Why I chose to braid my natural hair myself

Here is why I chose to braid my natural hair myself and with extensions too. I would have loved to braid without extensions but my hair is short and not full at all. I like natural hair without extensions only when the hair is full sha.

The only reason I chose to braid my natural hair myself  is the rona known as COVID-19.

The braids are not as neat as I’d love but it’s better than not trying.

Have you ever tried braiding your own hair with your fingers? How did it go? 😁

Wearing wigs at home isn’t funny o. Combing black natural hair can be painful especially my rubbery woolen type of hair.

When I told my family yesterday that I wasn’t going to visit a hairdresser or salon till the Coronavirus pandemic is over, they laughed and said I was joking.  I wasn’t.  Managing natural hair is hard work but I’ll find ways to help myself.

It took me three hours to braid my natural black hair with extension.  That’s because my hair is scantily scanty. I mean that I can literally count my hair strands one, two, three like that.

The first one was not easy but it got easier towards the end of the job. For me, this hair braids are very beautiful no matter what anyone else says.

This is my first time braiding hair ever and it’s happened on my very own head.

With no earlier plans to make hair, washing ans combing natural hair made me determined. Then I  saw an Instagram video while scrolling the hashtag hairstyles

A video of a hair stylist braiding her own hair with speed. That short video gave me so much inspiration to try

As soon as I was done braiding with my first cut of  expression hair attachment (extensions), I  just knew it was possible.

I want to try self braiding again and see if I can manage my hair like that till life returns to normal. We all need to stay home and stay safe.

Visiting a hair stylist might be the best option but now now that the lockdown has just been eased.

It’s until two weeks later that one cam tell where we stand with the Coronavirus pandemic.  So help us s God!

In my next braiding, I think I’ll make a short video showing how to your own hair without a stylist. Let me brag a little first.

Why I chose to self braid my natural hair with extensions:
  • To prevent other people putting their hands on my head for now.and as long as the COVID-19 lasts.
  • Protect myself, family and others too from the deadly Coronavirus.
  • To see if it’s possible to braid my natural hair myself  and it is for sure. I  can say that right now.
  • Help myself stay home until it’s okay to start being free around people and public places.
  • To prove to myself that I  can do anything if I put my mind to it.
  • To satisfy myself that a woman can live her life without hair stylists and hair salons and wigs sometimes.
