How To Cook Quick,Delicious And Healthy Tomato Macaroni

How To Cook Quick,Delicious And Healthy Tomato Macaroni. Cooking this delicacy took 15 minutes from

when the water starts boiling to when the heat is turned off. There are times I cook some kinds of macaroni, and they take 5 more minutes to cook. This became tender in no time. I don’t if this fast cooking was due to the type of macaroni or the heat applied.

To say that this dish was delicious is an understatement! It was super delicious.

Ingredients:

  • 1 sachet of La Rose Blanche Macaroni
  • 1 tin corned beef
  • One  tin sardines
  • 1 spoon scoop of tomato paste
  • red pepper
  • 2 seasoning cubes
  • salt
  • 2 dessert spoonfuls of vegetable oil
  • chopped onion
  • chopped (shredded with grater) carrots. To see how to chop carrots with a grater, GO HERE
  • kidney beans
  • peas

Cooking Steps
  1. Vegetable oil is added to a pot of water ( I used two big cups of water here). It is brought to a boil
  2. Macaroni, chopped onion, seasoning, salt and tomato paste are added to the boiling pot of water
  3. I checked for salt  before adding ground pepper, covered and allowed the pot to boil.
  4. When the pepper and other ingredients begin to boil, I opened and added corned beef and sardines, stirred, checked for salt again before covering and allowing  to  cook. At this point, the aroma from corned beef and sardines filled the kitchen.
  5. When I checked and saw the macaroni was beginning to get tender, I added the carrots, peas and kidney beans, stirred gently, checked for salt again, before covering to finally cook.
  6. After adding the vegetables, I cooked for just two minutes and turned off the heat.
  7. Serving time!

I emptied this plate before sipping my little sauce

NOTE:

I did not use all the pepper in the picture, when I remembered that the kids were going to eat with us, I had to reduce it to three and keep two back in the fridge.
If left to over-cook, the macaroni twists will begin to loosen, and it won’t look that beautiful anymore.
Enjoy!

  5. I liked your jollof marcaroni with caned fish, I hope this tastes as good too! I appreciate the fact that they take short time to cook, and the veggies make them healthier. Thanks Eya.

  6. Sometimes I don't remove it because it's jollof and the oil in it over powers the starch. Lol!

For boiled macaroni, I always remove the starch.
The quantity of tomatoes is so small that you do not need to fry. I have cooked it this way many times and the results are always great.

  14. Hi Nife, I think that you do add the corned beef too early. Add when the meal is almost ready and be careful with stirring. I like stirring with wooden spoons because their edges are not sharp like metal spoons/laddles.
    Do not stir frequently.

  15. Try Wuse and Garki Ultramodern markets. Fruits are generally expensive in Abuja.
Try to bargain with the sellers, do not just give what they ask. This is Naija.

  16. Again, when I shop for corned beef, I go for smaller sized exeter. They are stamped at both ends and taste better. They are not as soft as the ones in the big sized exeter I don't know why.
Since I discovered the difference in these two, I stopped buying big cans of exeter corned beef. I'd rather buy many small sizes. The one in the pic is Ester.

Ester too is preferable to those big tins of EXETER. The corned beef in those big cans crumbles easily and is not as colorful and tasty as the small canned ones.

  17. Thanks a lot. I'm guilty of stairing too frequenty and yes I put the corned beef too early, now I know better. You are correct about ESTER, I used it for sandwich and its meatier and less pasty than big EXETER
