What’s In A Name?

Eya Ojong Ayambem
“Today it is Joy Ojay, Tomorrow it will be Eya. Is she OK at all?  What is her name by the way?”…  “This lady is not serious at all. At a time when we are getting used to Joy Ojay, she suddenly switches to one long African Name Lol!”

Dear readers, please bear with yours truly. It is just one person.
It is  just difficult to forget the name I owned as a pet name. My Father was nicknamed Ojay by his friends and when I was growing up, Friends started calling me Joy Ojay, They felt that I really made my Dad happy and saw me as his Joy. It started as a pet name. Then it stuck. I grew older and continued to do with Joy Ojay as my un-official name and Eya as my official name given by my parents.

When I started blogging, I saw that as an opportunity to resurrect my sweet pet name. Thought that blogging is something that is  not official, and as such can tolerate an un-official name, so, I resurrected the name which by now was known only by friends and family who knew me as a child. I do not want that name to be forgotten. I love it but it is not in any of my documents.

The reason I decided to start posting as Eya is because some people are getting confused. On Facebook it is Eya. On the Blog they see Joy and do not seem to be able to connect with the  different names on the same photograph. Know what readers, whichever of the two is easier for you, go along with it. There is no name change here. It is still muah.

When you see Eya, do not forget it is still the Joy Ojay you know.  I think it is easier for my readers if the name on Facebook is what they see on my blog. Cheers.
